Tweens and name brands

11 year old DS recently asked for a pair of Nike Air Max shoes. He needed new shoes so I bought them for him, but I’m realizing this is probably just the beginning ....

So how do you handle your tweens wanting particular clothing items?

I’m cheap, my kids know it and they know not to ask for expensive before they’ve stopped growing.

Thankfully none of them have been brand specific.

Yes it's just the beginning lol. My 17 year old wears a size 13 for years now so imagine how much his sneakers cost lol. I usually buy him what he wants however I don't buy them all the time. We go major clothes shopping twice a year for him.

I buy the name brands. At least it’s good quality!

I have had the air max shoes before. They are super comfy and worth the money.

My son is 10 and doesn't care about clothes let alone name brand lol.

My daughter has brands that she likes. When it's time to shop I give her a $$$$ and she does her thing. I tell her to look for quality items, be concerned about how the clothes will wear and wash. Make sure it's appropriate(style, length, fit). It's got to pass daddy test...lol

I’m glad I have 2 teens that never cared about brands. If they had, I would have nipped that attitude in the bud and told them that I don’t waste my money in stuff for status and bragging rights.

So far my 12 year old doesn’t care about brands. Which is good bc I’m cheap and probably wouldn’t buy them anyways lol
