First date and no money

A guy asked me out on a date. Nothing huge..just ice cream and a escape room BUT I just moved and haven't received my first paycheck yet. I dont feel right about not paying for anything but i dont know the protocol for things. It was him that messaged me for the date, if that makes any difference. Help ladies!!! Or just be upfront with him????

He should pay. Since you haven’t met maybe just meet for coffee? Most guys pay for at least the 1st date. I wouldn’t cancel because of this.

Technically I would say you're good, since he asked you out....but again, I would hate to be stuck somewhere with no money.

If it was me, I would just postpone it.
