I never had clippers used on my son. I got him a proper haircut with scissors at that age. Thick hair can be thinned out nicely by a hairdresser.

He would have two choices: sit still until the cut is done, or go to school looking like he cut his own hair. You want to be a jerk and screw up your own haircut? Fine. You can look ridiculous until it grows out and you need another haircut.
