[quote The House of Representatives, by an extremely narrow margin, voted Tuesday to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached in almost 150 years.

The result came one week after the stunning loss House Republicans suffered when they last tried to impeach Mayorkas and GOP defections and an absence sank the initial floor vote, a move Republicans had hoped to use to spotlight the Biden administration’s handling of the southern border.

The impeachment comes as House Republicans have faced building pressure from their base to hold President Joe Biden and his departments and agencies accountable over immigration and border security policies. House Republicans claim Mayorkas has committed high crimes and misdemeanors for his handling of the southern border, even though several constitutional experts have said the evidence does not reach that high bar. ][/quote]

What exactly were the "high crimes"? They are so transparent, it's ridiculous. They don't want to actually do anything about the border, they need it as an issue to run on since their abortion bans are so unpopular. When the opportunity presents itself to actually fix it, they run away, on orders from Trump.

Anything to deflect attention from the fact they purposely sink all border bills just to keep division going.

Republicans line up to sink Senate border bill negotiated by one of their own

Despite containing policy aimed at toughening border restrictions pushed for by conservatives, the deal has faced relentless attacks from former President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican who has said the bill would be dead on arrival in his chamber - if it ever makes it out of the Senate. Trump, who is hoping to make immigration a key plank of his presidential campaign, has suggested on Truth Social that approving additional resources for the border would make Republicans “look bad.”

Republican's can't claim the Biden administration is "failing" to do it's job in regards to border control while simultaneously squashing all efforts to control the border, even when it's presented by their own party.

Is this the same “ Border Bill” that had most of the money going towards securing the borders of other countries?

I agree....thanks for posting this, Lexy. You always post interesting things and it's up to everyone else to make of it what they can.

Another article pertaining to this:
"House Republicans impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas in historic, controversial vote - ABC News" https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/hou ... =107158284

Looks like the Senate is expected to disgree with the House again.

There needed to be more explanation for the WHY on this impeachment, IMO.
just an old coot 😉🌵
