I do not think it is that bad.

I got a weird name, and although it is not a word that represents anything else in the English language, it was mispronounced constantly. I never felt like it hindered me or embarrassed me.

And shame on the announcer, who gets emotional over a name? Say something kind and move on, good grief, they have one job…
