It’s commemorated on May 15, the day after Israel’s Independence, with many of these “celebrations” including speeches calling for the destruction of Israel and violence against Jews. That is definitely antisemitic.

And he did it precisely because the guy is a self hating Jew. He was a poster child for progressives and socialists who could ignore his Jewishness because he himself does. The Squad loved him because they could get away with their antisemitic crap because Bernie agrees and he’s Jewish! So it’s OK! I mean, the guy helped Rashida Tlaib host a “Nakba” event, for crying out loud! ( https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisem ... cle-742710)
But I knew he wouldn’t get close to it. Because as much as he threw his fellow Jews under the bus, he’s still Jewish and they wouldn’t allow him to get that far. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew and people like those in the Squad won’t forget that just because he acts like a “good Jew should” to them.
But Joe Lieberman was probably a contributing factor in the downfall of Al Gore. And good candidates like Josh Shapiro don’t stand a chance to get to being a presidential candidate.

I couldn't pull up your article although I found others. I don't think being critical of Israel is antisemitism. I'm not thrilled with Tlaib but I'm not knowledgeable enough to speak on her relationship with Sanders or how he feels about Israel. Frankly I don't care if a politician worships Cthullu so long as he's got the interests of the country in mind and I think a lot of voters feel the same, especially Gen Z. What I always heard was not that he was a Jew but that he was very socialist and Republicans hate that. As for Shapiro I know his name and that he's governor of Penn. That's about the extent of my knowledge. I'd consider him but I doubt he's going to run against Biden. I still believe this country needs a Native American president only because they were here first and it's time they get a say.

Edit: I did find your article. I can understand why that would be upsetting and comes across as antisemitism. He won't make himself popular this way.
I looked up Nakba. It appears to be about the destruction of the Palestinian homeland after the Palestine war in the forties when Israel became independent. Idk much more than what Wikipedia tells me and next to nothing about the war. I see why Tliab wants to bring attention to her country of origin. Perhaps she wants to support Palestinians that live here. But fanning flames about Israel or doing anything that will bring violence against Jews is a whole other issue. it’s fine to be critical of our policies with Israel. But she’s American and needs to think about everyone here. As for Sanders idk what his deal with that is.

“The “Nakba” is not a fact. It is a manipulative and catchy term designed to service the Palestinian propaganda campaign against Israel. Israel should refrain from legitimizing the term, as it imposes a false sense of guilt or culpability for the creation of the refugee problem onto the state.”

https://www.jns.org/the-nakba-narrative-is-nonsense/

“Though this Palestinian narrative is credulously accepted by many Europeans and an increasing number of “progressive” Americans, it is nonetheless false, and contradicts basic historical facts. Israel was not born in sin—with a few justified exceptions there were no expulsions (for one of the justified expulsions, Lydda and Ramle, see here), nor was there any policy of harming innocents. On the contrary.”

https://www.commentary.org/jonathan-to ... estinians/

“While it is possible to sympathize with the tale of Palestinian suffering in the wake of the creation of Israel without seeking to delegitimize Zionism, all too often those who adopt the notion that the events of 1948 were a “disaster” treat Israel’s creation as an original sin that requires the world to bow to all of the Palestinians’ demands”

“Yes, there is a "Palestinian narrative" of the 1948 war, and it is called "Nakba." But as every student of that war and the still-living witnesses know only too well, the Nakba version is no more than a pack of lies. No juggling and politicized interpretations of the events of that war, in which one percent of the Jewish population fell fighting against the Arab attack, can change the fact that the Arab world - the local Arab militias and the regular armies of the neighboring Arab countries, plus Iraqi forces - attempted to destroy the Jewish State in a war they started immediately after the UN resolution dividing western Palestine into Jewish and Arab states in November 1947.”
It is true that the Arab population of Palestine suffered grievously during that war. But it is also beyond doubt that this tragedy was brought on them by the decisions taken by the Arab leadership.”

“According to the Nakba (“Catastrophe”) narrative, the creation of the state of Israel was based on a “Zionist strategy of expelling Palestinians from their land.” Anti-Israel propagandists frequently argue that the Palestinians are descendants of the Canaanites and therefore, their claim to the Holy Land is older than that of the Jewish people. However, this is a historic falsehood.”

https://david-collier.com/1948-nakba/

“The Nakba – as it is described by our enemies – never happened. They have taken isolated incidents, such as the disputed events of Deir Yassin or what took place in Lod – and built an entire fairytale around them. The truth of 1948 – the foundation of everything that followed – is very simple and we should never lose sight of it – nor stop teaching it to our children. The truth can sometimes be really unpopular – but it does not stop being the truth.”

Yes, it’s fine to be critical. It’s not fine to spread lies in order to vilify Israel and much to put its legitimate existence now into question by lying about how it was formed 75 years ago. If you’re going to criticize, at least make sure that you’re criticizing with the truth. Tlaib is nothing more or less than an antisemite. I mean, she said “Palestinians, who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, human dignity, their existence in many ways has been wiped out ... was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews.” Lies, lies, lies, because it never happened that way.

I have to do more reading on the subject and I’ll look at your articles. At least I can learn something about the conflict and the war. All I can say about Tliab is she needs to think about our country and issues, not just Palestine. And how her actions affect everyone. I think at best she’s very biased and one can’t be that way as our representative. At worse she is prejudiced and if so she should be dealing with that in herself.

Couldn’t agree more! It seems to me she has abused her position of influence to push a personal agenda. I’m thinking that was her aim for seeking that position.
