During depositions for the Dominion lawsuit, Rupert Murdoch, head of Fox News, knew that several hosts for Fox promoted the false narrative that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Trump, and that he could have stopped them but didn’t.

Murdoch was always doubtful of Trump claiming Democrats stole the election but he claims the lies stayed with the commentators not the news anchors.

Former Republican Speaker of the House was also deposed, he’s on Fox Board of Directors. Ryan said that he had implored Mr. Murdoch and his son Lachlan, the chief executive officer, “that Fox News should not be spreading conspiracy theories.” Mr. Ryan suggested instead that the network pivot and “move on from Donald Trump and stop spouting election lies.”

The day before the attack at the Capitol, Mr. Murdoch and Suzanne Scott, the chief executive of Fox News Media, talked about whether Mr. Hannity and his fellow prime-time hosts, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, should make it clear to viewers that Mr. Biden had won the election. Mr. Murdoch said in his deposition that he had hoped such a statement “would go a long way to stop the Trump myth that the election was stolen.”
No statements of that kind were made on the air.

Fox suddenly had competition from new far right station

But will the viewers on FOX get coverage of this testimony under oath? They are the people that deserve to know that lies were promoted in the name of greed.
News Corp’s CEO admits in Dominion lawsuit deposition that several Fox News commentators were actively supporting election denial misinformation.

Billionaire Fox Corporation Chair Rupert Murdoch thought all the noise spewed by former President Donald Trump during his “stop the steal” hoax was “bullshit and damaging.” However, the thought of curbing the spread of an incredibly dangerous conspiracy wasn’t at the top of his mind back then. He was focused on keeping the Fox News money machine rolling.

Those messages showed leading voices at Fox were very skeptical of those who spread Trump’s election lies, but kept hosting them anyway out of concern for their audience’s reaction and the company’s bottom line.
