This seems like a waste of time

Maybe I'm missing something. My boss said she put rat traps out by our dumpster. That doesn't make sense to me because yeah we can kill the rats that come to our dumpster, but there are more rats that will just keep coming. It will be a never ending battle. Rats will always come to our dumpster no matter how many we kill.

I'm going to suggest peppermint oil to repel them in the first place. We have gates but there's a gap on the bottom so the rats can just go through, plus they can probably just climb the gates anyways.

I thought rats were the most intelligent of rodents. Maybe she thinks they will learn and start to avoid the area? I wouldn't want to have to keep checking the traps and throwing away the carcasses so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me, either. Or is she just planning on leaving the carcasses there to rot and attract other animals?
