They just keep finding more and more in different places, not even in the same buildings. How many more are out there? How secure could they be? And who the hell has seen them. He’s admitted he didn’t know he had them. How do you keep something secure that you don’t know you have?

How did the federal archives know what classified documents Trump had but apparently had no clue Biden had some going back to at least 2009?

Yet Pence did the same thing. Maybe they need to start working on a better system.

Indeed. The entire process of access, logging the documents, and chain of possession needs to be evaluated and updated.

It would be nice to know what the documents were. I mean, if it was a handwritten memo or a printed email that got stuck in a drawer and forgotten, then packed up with the rest of the contents and boxed away, that's easy enough to overlook. And I'm sure if it was even tangentially related to a classified issue it was marked as such. I mean, by all means, investigate and do the proper diligence, and punish accordingly, but Biden's thing sounds like overlooked, hastily packed documents versus whatever Trump did.

No, he didn’t. He may have done the same thing as VP. He did not do it as a senator, which Biden did along with the other documents from the Obama administration.

Carpy is right, a senator can’t get those documents accidentally or inadvertently.

What’s the basis for saying this? Genuinely curious, as it appears the only documents that require being handled and viewed in a strictly controlled SCIF environment are those at the higher level of clearance: https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2 ... sified-do/

Trump reply re Pence

“Mike Pence is an innocent man. He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!!!” the former president said.”

Reminds me of LEAVE BRITTANY ALONE!!!! viral video way back. So simple minded.

Biden was a senator from 1973-2009. The proper handling of classified material at that time was different than today.

Fun anecdotal info - when I started at Dept. of State, DOS had their annual excess furniture sale. Someone bought a file cabinet that was still full of classified files. It was a "thing". This was in the early 90s.

I have seen numerous senators, both republicans and democrats, say that to see classified documents they had to sign into a special room and sign out and no documents were allowed to be taken out of the room. I believe that the rules are somewhat different for the president and vice president and their offices in the White House, but I am not positive.
