I didn't even realize turkeys get that big!
Same!
Have you checked to see if it's going to fit in a regular sized roaster pan? I do the 22 - 24 lb turkeys a lot, and seems like there's not a lot of room left even with them.
Nope. My mom and MIL are in charge...not me. This is their circus. 😂

We'll be eating around 5pm on Thanksgiving Day, which my sister is hosting. Friday we are hosting everyone and that'll be more of a lunchtime meal, around 1 or 2pm.

I will be aiming for 5pm sit down. It's just the 4 of us plus my step-dad who lives locally so we don't have anyone who needs to get going early or anything like that.

We can't fry it this year because it won't fit into the pot so it has to be roasted. It will take at least 9.5 hours to cook so my mom and MIL are stressing over it.
That is a big bird. Holy smokes! I felt like I was pushing it with a 13lb turkey.
IKR?!!
We have a hard time with a 20 lb turkey... This is nuts. Dillon said the smallest one was 31 lbs. I was like😲😲
Wow! I was actually hoping to get around 18lb this year but when I went shopping the biggest I could find was 16lb. Still works fine for our group. But I thought anything over 20lb was big. 38lb seems gargantuan!

We haven't even seen this bird yet as it won't be here until tomorrow when my BIL's family gets here as they are bringing it down to FL with them. It has to cook for 9.5 hours in the pan as we don't have a pot big enough to fry it in. We'll have 17 people this year, but even with that many, I have no clue how we will eat all of that turkey. We're hoping it turns out ok as we always fry ours and this year we can't. My MIL and mom are freaking out about it.

That is just crazy! I didn't realise they could get that big either. Enjoy your holiday.
