"JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WJAX/CBS Newspath/WKRC) - Misty and Christopher Dunham were shocked to see their 8-year-old's homework assignment earlier this week.

"She proceeded to read to me that she needed to do her reading homework in the bathtub and send a picture of her doing it," said Christopher Dunham. "And specifically told her to stop, you will not."

Parents are supposed to sign off on the homework, but the Dunhams noted that their daughter would not be taking part in that activity."

OH WOW!!!

Blessing in disguise…stories like this is exposing the severe problem the south has with spiritual abuse because it has gone on behind closed doors for much too long.

I would be so ever-loving mad and ready to do time if a school ever asked my step kids or any other kid in my family to send them bathtub pictures and used the Bible to justify making such an inappropriate request.

I don’t blame the parents at all and commend them for handing this peacefully.

I'm still trying to make the connection between Psalm 24-1,2 and the bathtub. I agree with you,as usual, 😉

They didn’t want pictures of kids taking a bath. The teacher said to wear pajamas, school uniform, whatever clothes they wanted and have fun with it. The assignment has been given for years and they were the first family to complain.

I think it’s odd too, but not as bad as it sounds once explained.

Uhm, no, just no. It shouldn’t be the student removed from school, but the teacher.

I can’t imagine what administrator would have approved those lesson plans!

What is the connection between Psalm 24-1,2 and the bathtub?

I don’t think there is one. Just a list of exercises. I think it’s weird but maybe the teacher thought if she did homework in a bathtub it would be fun and she’s more likely to do it? I wouldn’t have liked it either. My tub needs to be replaced and it just seems an odd assignment even with clothes.

I have no clue. I looked up the verse but the only connection I could find is the word “seas” in it.

Maybe since the verse talks about the seas the bathtub is supposed to be like a boat? I agree it is odd.

I went to a private parochial school and that would have been outlandish. I can't imagine how many children found this an odd assignment. But this is what scholarships like McKay do for education.

As an aside, I attended their church for a while as a child (with my mom). It was one that lead to my becoming nonreligious.
