Its indescribable to watch your kid scream in pain for over 6 hours straight. Like severe pain not something small. I can still hear her screams and see the pain on her face. It's nothing I ever want to witness another human go through ever again.
I'll share the story in a bit I have to process what happened first. I'm just really struggling right now.

Ok I think I can manage to share now. My daughter was diagnosed with mild slipped capital femoral epiphysis late Thursday. Basically her growth plate was detaching from her femoral head. Her doctor called me as soon as he got the results and said it was minor so he said to keep her on crutches and make sure she doesn't put any weight on it and he would call shriners first thing in the morning. Shriners called me Friday and told me their clinic closes early that day so to take her to the pediatric Ed where their doctor was heading after he was done there for the day and he would make sure he was the one who saw her.
So I took her in and they did x-rays and everything again and said it was stable. He consulted with a team and they decided it could wait until Monday for surgery at shriners but to keep her 100% off of it on crutches until then no weight on it.
We went home and Saturday morning we had some places to go. We went to tractor supply and she wanted to come in so we went and got our animal feed. While we were getting ready to leave her crutch hit my shoe (I was in front of her and still feel terrible please don't tell me how you're perfect and would never let that happen). It slipped and I turned around in time to see her fall and slam her already damaged hip onto the edge of the shopping cart. It was one of those low ones so she fell a long ways and I could tell from the scream it wasn't good.
We gave her a couple of minutes but she was still screaming and couldn't move so we called an ambulance to take her back to the Ed we were at the day before.
She screamed for the next 6 hours. They gave her morphine, ketamine (sp?), and who knows what else and it didn't seem to touch the pain. Every xray, every time they had to do anything was torture. They put her in line for surgery as soon as there was space in the or but life and death patients pushed her back that far.
The surgery took about 1.5 hours and she now has 2 pins holding her growth plate to her femoral head. She woke up and the first words out of her mouth were it doesn't hurt very much now.
Since then her pain is well controlled with Tylenol and motrin thankfully and we were able to come home today. It still makes me sick to my stomach to think about it and I'm so thankful she's recovering now.

That is very sad to hear. Whatever it was, I very much hope that it is over now and healing can begin. Best wishes!

I honestly just don’t understand how you let a child in that kind of position just go out and about.

Poor kiddo. I am sorry, and accidents happen. No parent is perfect.

And the lemons are like the paleness of a lover

How dare I follow the instructions of the specialist who told me it was fine for her to go. I, as a parent, should certainly know more than a medical professional at a top rated hospital for children especially when it comes to bones.

The specialist told you that you had to go cart your kid around on errands one day before major surgery while they had an unstable injury that could under no circumstances handle weight. Sure.

I am in no mood to deal with your nonsense right now. I know what the specialist told me so just go away.

The accident could have very well happened as OP and her daughter were walking into their home. You are just being mean. Have a glass of wine and just stop.

So, the child is supposed to be trapped in the house indefinitely? Stop being a jerk.
