Today I ran across a video of this celebrity, of whom I can't recall the name, but she was plugging a book of hers on how to raise children. In this interview I learned that none of her kids were above the age of 10, I think.
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that unless you have actually raised all of your kids into adulthood and they are successful in any way (as in not living in your basement and eating your food), you have no business writing a book on what it takes to raise children.. am I the minority here? Sure you can write about whatever you want and we simply don't have to read it. But still, I have to wonder what this person thinks qualified herself to give such advise? Lol. Just a curious thought.

I dont know if I'd take her advice on handling teenagers, but I guess she's as qualified as anyone else to talk about how she handles babies and young children.

I agree. I don't know which celeb you're talking about but I think most of them in general live in a completely different world and probably wouldn't have any relevant advice for us everyday people. Especially when it comes to raising kids.

Probably a ghost writer, lol. Slap a celeb's name on there and sell millions.

There's a market for it. Some people hang on every word a celebrity says.

I get my parenting advice from my people(meaning aunts, uncles, grandparents). Mostly my mother when she is able.

I should clarify the book is on how to successfully raise your kids. And honestly even if she had advice on the younger years, you wont know how great of a job you've actually done until your kids are fully grown and leading happy healthy lives themselves. And even then it's not always indicative of your method of raising. I think the whole concept is silly. But I don't have to read it lol. Just silly to fathom.

I would definitely put more stock into the advice of someone who has raised successful children than someone who has young kids, especially if they are talking about issues related to teenagers.

That doesn't mean her advice is worthless. If so, that would mean a therapist, for example, must be gay before they can give a gay person advice about something to do with being gay. Or, that a mom can't give advice to her son because she's never been a boy. Or that teachers can't be good at teaching unless they've had kids. Et cetera, et cetera.

Yds' counselor who works with teens only has little ones. So I guess I don't feel that way. There has been times I've been complaining that he looked at porn or talked to a gamer online and she's all like that's normal. And i think yeah come talk to me when its YOUR kid lol. But generally i trust her.

I'm trying to find the video. It played randomly on my YouTube feed but my kids took over it since then and I can't find it in my history. YouTube is so wonky about that. Some of the things we watch shows up the history and some of the things don't.
