that said, he did win re-election, which makes the notion that his constituents “can’t stand him” questionable.
Liberals have no seats in Alberta. Also as a Canadian we vote for the party, and with Ontario a little jaded with Rob Ford (Trump Jr) it would have been a hard battle to for the Conservatives in Ontario. Does not matter we will be back at the poles in under a year voting for the leading party again.
Do you think they’ll run Scheer again? I can’t imagine him fairing much better in a second attempt, but Scheer’s review isn’t until April and they don’t have a lineup of particularly strong contenders to fall back on if he’s ousted or resigns either.
Not sure. He was too wrapped up in trying to bad mouth people and spent no time on the real issue. His party did not do too bad, as I said Ontario is a hard sell right now as do many are jaded by Rob Ford especially with the teacher strike looming. Rob ford may blow it for the federal Conservative party.

They are human and need to blow off steam. I’m sure every leader who has ever met Trump has had a laugh at his expense. They just didn’t get caught.
Let's turn those tables a bit....we've all seen Trump mock other world leaders, politicians, celebrities, and so on.

And I've read here the opinions of a few who found this to be distasteful, wrong, crass, crude, etc., etc. Honestly, they're right.

Again, we're talking world leaders of which--and much to the frustration of many--President Trump is presently one. So then, is he too, blowing off steam when he does it?
Think about it for a minute. These guys were having what they thought was a private conversation. Trump was in front of TV cameras calling Schiff a sick man who is deranged and something weird about his childhood.

Would a reasonable person see these two as similar?

What your not understanding is these countries should have been paying a percentage of their GDP since joining NATO. Giving them til 2024 was silly since they should have been paying the entire time, which most had not been and that was why Trump had a problem with them.
He should get credit for turning things around . NATO gives him credit.
Just because you don't like him doesn't mean you should lie about him.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/wor ... 695799002/
Fact is they settled the problem in 2014 without Trump. Countries, like people, need to budget added expenses. Of course you need to give some countries more time. Some didn’t need more time. Some did. Some are probably stalling.

I don’t like liars. I understand the guy credited him like Trump was some kind of mafia strong man collecting debts. But he did not have anything to do with everyone now paying their fair share.

What the f**k did he turn around? What policy is now in place because of him?
Why was there a problem to settle in 2014? Each country upon joining NATO should have been ready to pay the agreed upon amount. They didn't and some of them never have and never will.
Trump had every thing to do with the increase in the countries that did pay up. The threat that America would pull out of NATO was enough to make them start paying more. He pointed out that the USA was paying to protect them from Russia while they were buying gas from her. Why should we do that? Why should Americans safeguard their countries while they were not paying for their own security and trading with Russia on goods America made?
Who are you talking about? Who is paying more because of Trump?

Since his tweet was in 2014, I assume he was saying Obama was “the laughing stock”.
It couldn’t be farther from the truth.
He was jealous of him all along.

I consider myself a reasonable person. QUITE reasonable, in fact.

Were the cameras hidden along with the ability to overhear a portion of what Trudeau and Johnson in particular were saying? If not, surely these men understood that their not-so-private conversation was going to be overheard.....audio and videotaped, yes?

So back to the original question---is Trump also "blowing off steam," or do we have a group of world leaders (including Trump) who've all forgotten what decorum, tact, and couth are supposed to be about?

Perhaps it does make them look bad. But it certainly undermines Trump’s repeated insistence that the United States is “respected again”, and the fact that he’s an international joke is quite something contrasted to his 2014 assertion under Obama that the United States “needs a President who isn't a laughing stock to the entire World”.

Two wrongs don't make a right...and so on IMO.

ALL of them need a swift kick and yes, that includes Trump.

As I wrote originally, it's like watching a bunch of kids.

OK, Let's go to facts and figures.

Trump lie:
Prior to last year, 2017, where I attended my first meeting, it was going down — the amount of money being spent by countries was going down and down very substantially. And now, it’s going up very substantially.
FACT: Europe and Canada increased defense spending in 2015 and 2016.

Image

Trump misinformation:
many countries owe us a tremendous amount of money for many years back, where they’re delinquent … because the United States has had to pay for them
FACT: .Countries in the alliance that spend less than 2 percent of their GDP on their own defense are not required to pay countries that do meet the 2%. No one owes anyone any money.

In September 2014, President Obama urged NATO allies to increase spending to combat Russia’s aggression in the Ukraine and ISIS. The agreement for everyone to pay 2% was voted in.

Trump shows up almost 3 years later and tries to take credit for something that happened in 2014. Its like when the stock market goes up, he's all over it. The stock market was way down and recently reporters asked him and he claimed "I don't follow the stock market" "I follow jobs". He grabs credit where he can, even if it's stolen and runs from failures, even when they are his.

Why did Obama have to get them to recommit to paying? Because they were not paying, and when Trump came along they still were not paying.
To be a member of NATO you pledge to pay a certain amount , that's always been the way . No One was suppose to get a pass on paying . Many countries were not paying and some were paying less than then the agreed upon amount. Even after Obama got them to agree again to pay a lot of countries still were not paying Then Trump said what he did and guess what more started paying . Even the man in charge of NATO credits Trump and not Obama with increased payment to NATO.
