NRA Chief Wayne LaPierre offered to help Trump fight off impeachment in exchange for him stopping 'the games' on gun ref

Donald Trump met with National Rifle Association chief Wayne LaPierre on Friday, and discussed how NRA could help Trump fight impeachment in exchange for him backing off gun reform, according to The New York Times.
The Times reported that LaPierre offered "financial support for the president's defense" if Trump commits to "stop the games" on gun control legislation.
The impeachment inquiry centers around a whistleblower complaint from an intelligence officer who wrote that Trump is "using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 US election."
Despite the fact that expanding universal background checks to all private gun sales regularly earns over 90% support among Republicans, LaPierre has been remarkably effective at encouraging Trump not to back gun control.

The same day the NRA was reported to be a Russian foreign asset ahead of 2016? Good optics, Donald.
And I guess that helps explain why there’s been radio silence from the White House on new gun laws for weeks since this summer’s mass shootings.

He's exchanging making/changing laws for cash for himself (his defense is still his pocket)

Didn’t NYT have to update their story that was reported by all these other outlets because they verified details and found out they were wrong - AGAIN

Do you have any reference for that? I have not seen any correction, but I have seen the meeting reported widely.
