If Trump is trying in earnest to reach accord with some of our historic enemies (N Korea/Afghanistan), and this guy is blowing that up, its understandable. Usually the left is critical of any war or aggression being used. I'd think that you'd all be applauding diplomacy.

If Trump is pro-diplomacy and anti-war/aggression, why did he hire known war hawk Bolton in the first place? It’s not like his views should have come as a surprise to anyone, least of all his boss.Valentina327 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:48 pm If Trump is trying in earnest to reach accord with some of our historic enemies (N Korea/Afghanistan), and this guy is blowing that up, its understandable. And when he’s going on NSA number 5 in less than 3 years (Bush and Obama has 2 and 3 over 8 years, respectively), it begins to look like the issue is either than he has terrible judgement or that the problem isn’t them, it’s him.

I would imagine it's a lot like hiring people in regular business. Someone has a great resume, stellar bona fides and you think they'd be a perfect fit. You know they may have a deficiency in an area - everyone does. You just don't know how that deficiency will play out in day to day dealing. You don't know the impact of any persons shortcomings until you're in the thick of things.Francee89 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:53 pmIf Trump is pro-diplomacy and anti-war/aggression, why did he hire known war hawk Bolton in the first place? Except in this case, his great resume and stellar bona fides included being a known, loudly outspoken war hawk - professionally and on television - who was hired to advise the President on national security. If Trump is pro-diplomacy, how was that not an automatic dealbreaker? His worldview/foreign policy philosophy is central to the role, not some minor deficiency.Valentina327 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:58 pmI would imagine it's a lot like hiring people in regular business. The White House/Trump admin also has an unprecedented level of turnover. At a certain point, it looks like either the person hiring them has terrible judgement, terrible management or is the self the problem.
