My kid is a junior in high school at a new school this year. (We moved.)
At her last school, I’d get a robocall in the evening if she was absent.
Today, she stayed home sick.
At noon, I got a robocall, a text, and an email, all telling me she was absent. My dh got an email saying she was absent.
At 6 pm, I got a robocall and a text, telling me that she was absent. I haven’t looked at email since before 6.
Seriously, I know she was absent. I watched her sleep on my sofa all day. I poured Gatorade, brought her Kleenex, and cleaned up vomit.
So, tell me if this is normal?
How does your kid’s school let you know that they were absent?
Did you not call or email the school?
We get a robo call, an email, and both dh and I get a text.
If I have called the attendance clerk and reported her absent, I get nothing.

No. I didn’t contact them and I wonder if that was the problem. As I understand it, they don’t want parents to call in for that. They only want a note after the fact. (But, I’m going to check with them to see if I misunderstood.)Anonymous 2 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:28 pm Did you not call or email the school?

Once mine hit middle school and up I needed to call the attendance clerk. High school was just a line you left a message giving the child's name, date. Middle school I had to call before the end of 1st period and actually speak with someone. I am sure you will figure it outAnonymous 1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 9:32 pmNo. I didn’t contact them and I wonder if that was the problem.
