My mother remarked that my brother picked his parents anniversary to marry. She thought it odd. But it's not like she cared and neither would l.

Did he specifically say "we're getting married on mom and dad's anniversary" or just name a date? If he's a typical clueless guy he probably didn't even realize what the day was. Just picked a day.
