I'm worried

My grandma is in the hospital. At first they said she had a contagious uti but now they are saying its c diff. She has been there for 8 days and isnt responding to medication.
On top of that my dad hasn't been able to breathe properly for years. He is constantly going to doctors and is being sent to new specialist after new specialist but nobody can find anything wrong. Well you know what they say about dogs knowing? My parents 12 year old dog refuses to leave my dad's side. This is an outside dog and he has been howling and barking every night. They finally got him to stop by at least moving him where he can sleep on the back step.
And my kids are out fishing with my dad this morning. I can't wait for them to get back.

C-diff is a bitch. What are they treating her with? My Mom had it after many UTI treatments/diverticulitis treated with antibiotics. Is she past contagious?
Is your Dad on heart meds or having treatments for fluids/congestion around his heart?

It sounds like you have your plate full. Take a little time for your own mental health. That's a lot of worry for you to have :(

I'm not sure what they are treating her with. We kind of have complicated family dynamics where she has always put more emphasis on out of state relatives than in state. My aunt manages a lot of her medical care because she used to be a nurse so shes more knowledgeable.
My dad is on a bunch of meds at any one time that I cant keep up with. Theres no fluid around his heart though. They keep trying new things hoping to find something that helps but its just getting worse not better.

I hope they're both doing better soon!

How old are your kids?

I’m sorry:( That’s a lot to deal with all at once.

It sounds like she got c-diff because of antibiotics for the uti, so maybe it’s just too early in the treatment to see a good response?

I hope they’re able to figure out what’s going on with your dad, too! I’m sorry your family is going through all of that!

9 and 12 so old enough to handle an emergency. They have a cell phone with them, are 5 minutes from my house, and know how to drive the boat.

Yes she was on antibiotics that's what they say caused the c diff but the antibiotics were before she was hospitalized.

She picked up c.diff. in the hospital. The antibiotics didn't cause c.diff. The antibiotics may have knocked back her good gut bacteria but it didn't cause the c.diff. C.diff. is known to run rampant in hospitals.

C diff is in a lot of hospital but the antibiotics could have caused it also. Many people naturally have the c diff in their body without causing any issues. When you take antibiotics they wipe out the good bacteria and allow the c diff to grow and spread leading to a problem

Antibiotics do cause issues with c diff all the time

You really shouldnt give out advice when you are clearly ignorant on the subject.
