Why aren't they pushing for flu shots instead, since it's a lot more deadly to everyone?

They push them in Florida. Yds got his at school. All I did was sign consent. But that's the point. I guess he would be able to decide for himself under this new law. The problem with him is he'd say no to a flu shot. I'm sure ds18 does. What teenager wants needles?scemily526 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 10:42 am Why aren't they pushing for flu shots instead, since it's a lot more deadly to everyone?

Give it up.
Any vaccination is much preferable to getting any diseases.

Good. Many of these teens know better than their parents, obviously. And if a teenager can go and get birth control or even an abortion without parental consent, why shouldn’t they be able to get vaccines and protect themselves if their ignorant parents aren’t willing to do it?

Because unlike other vaccines that have very high degrees of efficacy and give the person years of protection, some even decades of protection, the flu vaccine is seasonal and efficacy is dependent on how accurate the determination of that year’s strain was.
So while you’re also wrong in saying that the flu shot isn’t promoted every year, it’s not being suggested it’ll be mandatory because it is quite a unique vaccine.
So at least compare comparable issues.
Oh, and the CDC doesn’t track influenza deaths, it groups deaths by influenza and pneumonia together. Pneumonia can be a complication of many other respiratory conditions, including a common cold. So you cannot claim pneumonia deaths as influenza deaths.

The bill is inclusive of flu shots.
“The bill would allow any child 14 years or older to be vaccinated and given booster shots for a range of diseases including mumps, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, influenza, hepatitis B and measles, which seemed to be the primary reason for alarm after the recent outbreaks.”

You won't find stats on deaths from the latest measles outbreaks in the US, because there were no deathsNine influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported to CDC during week 9 (the week ending March 2, 2019), eight of which occurred during the 2018-2019 influenza season.
A total of 64 influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported for the 2018-2019 season.
