Generally I agree with you. But this particular person that took a selfie with Trump is also selling access to Trump to Chinese executives. I think reporting on their relationship is important.

I understand what you’re saying but this reads like the business association was already known. I can understand if the picture shows an actual transaction and I’m not saying he didn’t do it. But I’m just not a fan of the drama and confusing selfies or pictures with people as confirmation.

I don't think the business association wasn't publically known prior to the selfie. The selfie prompted the scrutiny which revealed the business association.

I thought it was pretty obvious if she is a Trump donor who started one of the businesses his friend got busted at. I really wouldn’t have really needed a selfie to put two and two together. But that’s just me and I can’t speak for everyone.
