Since there has been a lot of issues in this group lately I’ve decided to implement some new rules so that we can get back to what this group is about.
News and Politics Rules
1. Keep News and Politics about News and Politics. If you would like to post about personal things or argue about other issues, you can do so in the other groups. We will move call out posts and posts unrelated to News and Politics. We will also lock topics once they turn into personal arguments. Don’t derail threads to argue about personal issues or to post comments for the purpose of instigating other members. Ex: Going into a clearly conservative post and saying conservatives kick puppies would be off topic, derailing, and instigating just like going into a liberal post and saying all liberals would rather puppies starve to death than be the slave of its owner. Also, stating opinions about a source isn’t off topic, going on about how one side or the other always uses a certain type of source is where it gets into derailment. In basic terms, be adults, no name calling or finger pointing. You get the gist.
2. Do not post full articles from other websites When you want to share an article, please, summarize the article in your own words and paste the link back to the source. If you would like to quote the article then use the quote tags. Keep quotes to a couple sentences, not multiple paragraphs.
3. Discuss things respectfully and take into account that each person has a different opinion If you feel yourself getting too heated then take a break from the topic or utilize the foe function.
4. Remember that this is a place for everyone to enjoy Don’t try and run people off of the site. If you are upset with someone then utilize the foe feature.
5. Report when things come up Moderator’s don’t handle things unless they are reported. Everyone is treated fairly here but if we don’t receive a report then we will assume that things are fine. The moderator’s volunteer their time and don’t catch everything that happens in every group. We rely on everyone to help keep the forum running smoothly.
6. Personal attacks are against guidelines however attacks need to be directed at a member on the forum for it to be against guidelines. Lying is not against guidelines, it’s hard for us to prove someone even did lie.
7. Once a topic is locked we consider the issue handled and no longer respond to new reports on the topic.
8. Graphics: Allowed: embedded articles, images from original topic source, keyboard emojis, site emojis, unbiased information based info graphics. Not Allowed: Memes, GIFs, and graphics from sources that are not the original posted topic.
Consequences for breaking the rules in this group will be:
1. Mod approval needed for all posts made before they are posted
2. 24 hour ban from news and politics
