That's the "crisis"...not people who are legitimately in pain. But they're the ones paying the price. Chronic pain sufferers can't get medication they need because of this manufactured bullshit. Post surgery people are being sent home on Tylenol.
The doctors are so afraid to prescribe anything with all of this BS so people who are in pain have to constantly jump through hoops and beg to get medication that allows them to participate in their lives. They're made to feel like drug addicts. It's insane.

I’ve had three children and some complicated oral surgery and I only took Tylenol or Ibuprofen. I was prescribed a pain med after oral surgery and after the first dose, I threw it out because it’s highly addictive and made me feel extremely weird.

Now I have arthritis and spinal stenosis which is painful but two Ibuprofen in the morning are good enough.
People don’t need anything stronger and they can easily avoid addiction.

Be very grateful that you don't require anything more than that to function. Not everyone is that lucky and there are people suffering now because of this nonsense. It's not addiction if it's something you require to function.

There is a crisis from doctors over prescribing pain meds. Now the manufacturers of those pain meds that are highly addictive have been getting on board to sell meds to cure the addictions. Big pharma is a huge blight on the country. There are other pain meds besides opioids.

Well DH and I are both lawyers that graduated with honors from top tier law schools, so I’m pretty sure we could cause great pain for that nurse. Get her arrested, sue her personally, does it really matter?

Just because you're a lawyer really means nothing. You could not get her arrested, you could sue her and it would get thrown out and you would be out money. Yes, it does really matter. The only pain you would cause is to yourself wasting time on something that would never happen.

The reality is that DH and I are specialists in what we do, and we know the best lawyers at the best firms because of that. You can keep arguing this point with me, but sometimes life isn’t fair. I would certainly bring the wrath of the best law firm specializing in medical malpractice on that nurse under those circumstances.

They may be for you. I had 4 kids with no pain meds, I have one of the highest pain tolerances of almost anyone I have met but after my surgery. I pretty much thought I was going to die from the pain. It took them 48hrs in the hospital to be able to manage my pain. So yes, for 5 days I needed more than just Tylenol. It helped me relax enough to heal. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are great but they are not always enough and to lump everyone into the same category just because it was good enough for you really isn't fair or accurate.
