All public opinion polls show that the vast majority of Americans are worried and angry about the unprecedented influx of people and drugs into the United States. The American people want those responsible for protecting the US border to be held accountable and this situation to be ended.

Funny how the House won't hold themselves accountable. They insisted on congressional action and then when the time came to actually do that, they balked, and punted to blaming Biden.

The National Border Patrol Council — which represents more than 18,000 agents — said the bill would “drop illegal border crossings nationwide and will allow our agents to get back to detecting and apprehending those who want to cross our border illegally and evade apprehension.”

Ok, but is this the one that was like 20 billion for our border, 60 billion for Ukraine’s border, 14 Billion for Israel’s border and 5 Billion for “our US partners” in the indo-pacific?

Yes, because Republicans were holding up funding for Ukraine and the others unless it addressed border security. This is, and it can't be emphasized enough, exactly what they asked for.

Because those aren’t our borders…
Republicans don’t want to fund Ukraine.

Even calling this a “Border Bill” is misleading since it’s a bill funding other borders that we will get a small percentage of.

So when republicans want border security, and democrats say “fine, but only if we throw three times that much into a lost cause which the continuation of is killing entire generations, thousands of miles away”, it’s met with a bit of disdain…

The GOP would not bring the comprehensive bill to the floor for a vote. So now they are working to pass a package with $60 billion aid to Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, and $9.15 billion for humanitarian assistance, including for Gaza. But ZERO for our border enforcement.

There was always going to be funding for the conflicts we have already committed to support. But now thanks to the GOP grandstanding the US border support gets nothing. I guess that must be what the GOP wants.

And ICE now planning to mass release 10s of thousands of migrants held at border due to the lack of funding that was included in this bill. All part of the Republican plan <sigh>
