Has your 2 year old ever held a loaded gun and pointed it at their face?

At least those parents learned a lesson the "mother" in question here hasn't learned her lesson and still leaves her child unsupervised long enough to get into trouble often.
I can’t say she hasn’t learned a lesson. I know some very attentive mothers and their kids still managed to get into things.

I remember one episode this girl was running with scissors. Fell on the scissors and they cut through her chest. There was another where a kid lit himself on fire playing with matches. That kid lived in my area and was terribly scarred after that. Kids are quick. Kids are stupid. They do and get into shit they shouldn't. No one is so perfect that every dangerous object ever is secured because kids constantly find new ways to hurt themselves even with the most ordinary objects sometimes. f**k my brother split his head open on the counter because he was wrestling with my other brother and his head hit the counter. My brother's friend had an icicle fall and cut straight through his lip on our back porch. It was horrible to see. It doesn't mean anyone is a bad parent. We learn as we go along.
Kids can hurt themselves with many things there is no doubt about it but that doesn't justify not supervising your child light enough for them to point a gun at their face. Plus the person didn't learn from their mistake either.

No but my kid got a hold of my sewing scissors around that age and cut her hair. She also threw a handful of clumping cat litter in her little fish tank. That was fun cleaning out.

She literally says it isn't her fault and she won't feel bad about it. You wouldn't feel bad if your 2 year old held a loaded gun to their head? That wouldn't make you feel ashamed and guilty at all that they could have easily died on your watch?

The key part here being “they learned their lesson”. That poster continues to claim that it wasn’t her fault and since the first step in learning a lesson and doing better is accepting your responsibility, she hasn’t learned anything.
And that’s why she was being criticized, because she can’t take responsibility for her mistakes and maybe some posters missed that and thought she was being bashed over one incident.

My dad had been cleaning it and forgot it was out. Gun education works. My kids started shooting at 3.
Wow! Smart kid! And great training on your part.

No. I don't own a gun. However when ds was 11 he shot himself with one of those airsoft guns to see how it felt. It didn't hurt him but I took it away and told him that was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. This was after a lecture on gun safety. Kids will do stupid things the minute your back is turned even when you think they're old enough to know better. Hence why I don't own guns. My younger son has taken shotgun and rifle shooting in scouts. That's fine, he was supervised and I still won't own one.

Kids can do anything if you take your eyes off them for one minute. That's why parents shouldn't do things like leaving loaded guns lying around.
Anonymous 1 wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:13 am Because according to the other post that is totally normal and kids can do anything if you take your eyes off them for one minute.

I don't think that's normal and defending a mom who doesn't provide proper supervision for her child multiple times is disgusting.

No.That’s why we can’t go to my brother’s anymore. He has a loaded gun in plain sight attached under the cabinet. I worry about my nephew every single night. We’re currently fighting over it now.
