I used to look for it vigilantly because of my ADHD son and the fact that it can aggravate symptoms. I was shocked once when I found red dye listed in the ingredient list in the meat department. Meat of all things!
I kind of gave up avoiding it completely. Its hard to avoid it completely and I'm not sure if it does affect my son or not.
Do you know how many things have red food dye?

My oldest is sensitive to food dyes and trying to find medications that don't use them is fun on wheels. She's 19 now but when she was little there were hardly any medications out there that weren't coloured. Even prescription medications had colouring. The couple times she had to take antibiotics she had to take them without flavouring because the flavour has colour mixed in. Certain food dyes turned her from a sweet little girl to an aggressive monster in 5 minutes. Now she just gets hyper if she has dye.
