And it’s notable that Abbott is only sending them to certain areas. Even more reason why the sanctuary city argument doesn’t matter because that’s not what this is.WellPreserved wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 11:17 amYes. All four states that border Texas have sanctuary cities. There are six states between Texas and NY with sanctuary cities. This wasn't a move to relieve Texas of its migrant burden by dispersing migrants to sanctuary cities. This was an expensive political stunt.
There are 11 states!

A lot of people want Californians to quit moving down south too...so I doubt that has anything to do with it.Slimshandy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 12:32 pm Lol who deemed Oklahoma a sanctuary state? They don’t even like people from Missouri visiting…
IDK who made the decision but I can see why. OK is still heavy in blue collar industries like the oil field. From what I have heard, a lot of migrants are moving to Mississippi and Oklahoma.

There’s no reason why blue collar oil rig workers would be anymore accepting of outsiders than the typical conservative that doesn’t like illegal immigration.

I agree. The problems NYC is having is Greg Abbott's fault. I understand he is not in the best positon but at the end of the day, he sent people to these cities to instigate conflict.
Is that not okay?
It doesn’t matter if it’s a sanctuary city or not. Biden still doesn’t care cause Abbott is targeting the wrong group.

Sending them to other states has accomplished nothing.

Stereotypical southern conservative. A lot don’t hold on to the ignorant beliefs that y’all see on the news or they just don’t show it.

No… most southerners don’t like outsiders. They’re quite vocal about this. Especially the small town people.SouthernIslander wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:34 pmWe (southerners) like outsiders, just the ones with some sense.Slimshandy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 2:08 pmLol you doubt what has anything to do with it? I mean… not with me, because I’ve been visiting most summers since I was a baby, was raised by a woman from here, have owned a home here since I was 18 years old and have my entire Mom’s side of the family in this town going back to before the civil war… and good god, there are a lot of relatives now- I’m related to half the town if you go up to third, fourth cousins ect…
But the way they are with people they consider outsiders is pretty untrusting… like you would be considered an outsider here even though you’re “southern” in general… they consider an outsider someone who is from a different state, and if the person doesn’t hold what they call “good Christian values” they don’t consider them someone who should even be trusted…
There’s definitely a closed minded way of thinking here, and very much rooted in “southern Christian conservative “ beliefs… but they legitimately hold to the beliefs, regardless of how close minded outsiders consider them to be.

You can Google whatever you want. It doesn’t override 40 years experience in the rural south and we weren’t all raised with a hillbilly mentality.
I don’t care what link you post.
