Rules can’t be based on political views/leaning because it is too subjective. Either these kids are allowed to express their views or they aren’t.
As someone who had to grow up fast, kids need to enjoy being kids, not political bullhorns for adults.

Ha ha - when I was in grade school they let all the kids vote in a school-wide "election" for the President. We had voting booths with curtains and levers just like at the polls. I doubt anyone voted differently than their parents, but it was a good introduction to how the voting system worked.WellPreserved wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 11:43 amI wore a "Nixon, Nixon, he's our man" t-shirt in grade school, lol.

Thanks but I have heard both arguments from medical professional and we are still in the early stages as far as researching all of this, so it’ll be awhile before I take sides on that one.MonarchMom wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 11:31 amI agree that kids don't need to be used as ammunition in adults political squabbles.SouthernIslander wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 11:18 amThat’s my thing/frustration about this.

Science does not point to the conclusion of only two genders. There are at least 10 different markers for genetic sexual development, including chromosomes, hormones, gonads, exterior presentation, interior organs, and the body's ability to utilize hormones. This leads to a spectrum of gender variety in humans, with most people falling at one or the other end of the curve - but quite a few along the curve.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... mplistic1/S*x Redefined: The Idea of 2 Sexes Is Overly Simplistic
Biologists now think there is a larger spectrum than just binary female and male.
S*x can be much more complicated than it at first seems. According to the simple scenario, the presence or absence of a Y chromosome is what counts: with it, you are male, and without it, you are female. But doctors have long known that some people straddle the boundary—their S*x chromosomes say one thing, but their gonads (ovaries or testes) or sexual anatomy say another.
My point is, we have two groups with drastically different views on gender identity. A large number of biological women disagree with the notion that trans women are the same thing. A large number of people still believe there are 2 genders based on the science they have been taught.
One court backs a school in banning a trans student from graduation and another backs banning this kid from wearing a T-shirt.
Every day it’s a different article, different outcome.
So which group has the final say and is compromise until more research is done that difficult?
If it’s going to be this much drama, let
the students wear uniforms and let trans students dress according to the gender they identify with to keep it fair.

Absolutely. It’s appalling how parents treat their kids as pawns in their political/social/moral fights.

Never have been.
Kids literally fight each other when they get pissed off and schools don’t want to deal with that environment… nor should they. I support uniforms personally…
The suit alleges selective enforcement. The school allegedly has allowed BLM and Pride stuff but not this.

We didn’t either and it was not this damn serious at 12 years old. I don’t even remember the schools harassing trans students to the point of banning them from graduation.Della wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 11:27 amI don't remember kids wearing political stuff back when I was in school. We were banned from AC/DC shirts because they mooned us at the concert in Fort Wayne. They were banned from the coleseum as well. I can’t stand it. I know a few people who work in mental health and they have clients in therapy because of parents pushing political views off on them. Kids and even adults.
It’s totally fine to have age appropriate conversations with children about politics but putting them in confrontational situations and making decisions based on adult political opinion has gotten way out if hand.
Let kids be kids. They have their whole life ahead of them for this bullshit.

Shit, worrying about getting mooned is nothing compared to what kids are exposed to now. I’d hate to be a student in this political climate:
