Who's saying the gun did it?BobCobbMagob wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 1:41 pmThe guy in the post, yes. Let’s not pretend this is the fault of the above timeline related - newly invented gun.
The number one reason a woman is killed has been “men going into jealous rages” since forever.

The statistics don’t “insinuate the gun is the reason the murder took place”. The statistics simply illuminate the increased danger posed to women when their abuser has access to guns.BobCobbMagob wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 1:41 pmThe guy in the post, yes. Oh… they don’t insinuate, they illuminate. Ok.
The danger isn’t increased, the danger is there.
The only way out alive is to leave the relationship… it’s almost irresponsible to suggest to women they have a better chance of living through an abusive relationship if the gun is taken away.

Yes, illuminating the increased risk of death (both to their partner and to other people) when an abuser has access to a firearm is not at all the same as “insinuating the gun is the reason the murder took place”. The danger is there, but access to guns - a particularly efficient method of killing their partner and others - are a noted risk factor for increased likelihood of intimate partner homicide.BobCobbMagob wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 4:07 pm Oh… they don’t insinuate, they illuminate. The woman in this situation wasn’t in a relationship with him anymore - she’s dead and her new partner (who was assaulted but not shot) was injured.
Maybe I’ve just seen too many people rage out with a knife to think no gun=safer.Francee89 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 4:33 pmYes, illuminating the increased risk of death (both to their partner and to other people) when an abuser has access to a firearm is not at all the same as “insinuating the gun is the reason the murder took place”. They’re a particularly effective method too.
Again, I was talking about the statistics… However I’m all for taking guns away from anyone under investigation or with a restraining order… but it’s also risk to make women feel like if she doesn’t have her own gun she’s safer if targeted by someone.
If a woman is in an abusive relationship, leave, take his guns, and keep your own guns close.
