Supreme Court allows the carrying of firearms in public in major victory for gun-rights groups

Oh..so this wasn’t a “win”…. it was a “f**k you” to state rights that doesn’t go along with a certain political agenda.

Open carry has facilitated a lot of irresponsible behavior into the southern gun culture for no reason and a lot of areas aren’t nearly as populated as NYC.

Getting on the subway and navigating through downtown Manhattan was overwhelming enough for my country ass without seeing someone openly carrying a gun. I don’t blame y’all one bit for being upset about this.

I believe this decision regards conceal carry permits. Not open carry. Open carry is stupid in my opinion.

Oh okay, what about the concealed carry permits if you don’t mind me asking?

I don’t know anything about the gun laws there.

NY was a "may issue" which generally means no. So now they will likely become a "shall issue" state, assuming the applicant has no record that would justify a denial.

Granted, it’s not so bad if it’s the wide open country or a smaller city with a low population…but NYC is densely populated. It doesn’t bother me to see people toting hunting rifles on my way to the Piggly Wiggly but I’m not getting on a packed NY subway with that many people who can carry a gun in public for no reason.

I understand why some think it’s too strict but I can see why they probably need to be.

It’s not just for NYC, it’s the whole state. From what I understand to get a concealed carry permit you must prove your life is in danger when you leave your house and need protection. So basically very hard to get. If you have the $$$$ you can hire security. If you don’t, you’re pretty much SOL.

I don't think NY would allow open carry. With a permit it would have to be concealed.
