That continued on in East Germany. Modern art was banned and artists were forced to create murals promoting the governmentOlioxenfree wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 9:08 am Careful with your phrasing, the Nazi Party came up with the term Degenerate Art to describe modern art, particularly abstract expressionism. It was seen as "unGerman" and perverted by Jewish influences, whether or not the artist was Jewish.
its not the nudity being commented on lol.SouthernIslander wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:51 am Nudity in art is older than Jesus (figure of speech). So I don’t think it’s about degeneration of art itself, it may be more so how it’s presented and the audience.

I know of no "objective standards" for beauty or talent in art. "Skill," possibly, but that is secondary to the content in art and more important in craft or decoration. Art is not valued by those criteria, but rather by the impact it has on a society and its ability to express human emotion or impart new understanding.LogLady wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:26 pm The fact some of you saw this meme and thought "nudity" was the reference is hilarious. 1st of all, there is no nudity in any of them, 2nd that is not the meaning at all3rd, many great works of classical art have nudity. They still meet objective standards for beauty skill and talent.
It looks like someone's idea of art is a painter successfully painting a picture to look someone, a portrait. How boring if art was only made up of landscapes and portraits. Especially since photography.LogLady wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 2:20 pmits not the nudity being commented on lol.SouthernIslander wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 7:51 am Nudity in art is older than Jesus (figure of speech).
