I can’t imagine young people staying home for weeks more with colleges closed. They are the ones who won’t be able to tolerate the isolation and will start to gather where places are still open.
Mississippi’s open!

I'm on the other side of the state, but some of my husbands family lives in PCOLA and they're not happy either. We're (J'Ville) not such a hot bed for Spring Break festivities, but our mayor finally closed our beaches, as did Nassau county. St. Johns county (St. Augustine) didn't, smh.SouthernIslander wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:42 pmI have a friend in PCOLA who was complaining about people are the beaches. Idk what area though....

But I'm still the winner! They lied! They cheated! They stole the election!

I'm absolutely aggravated with some young people and the politicians who won't shut down their states.

My jokes usually fall flat, nothing new. And Mississippi is in the news right now for doing something stupid. They aren’t exempt from criticism.SouthernIslander wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:01 pm
Louisiana travelers is a valid concern since it’s next door. But most vacationers mainly go to the casinos on the coast..which are now closed as the state isn’t literally wide open. ......And I doubt a lot of people from high risk areas like NY, NJ, WA, etc. will fly all the way to Mississippi to shop at the Piggly Wiggly.
I can not stand Tate Reeves but you attempted use this to make a joke out of the state ...again and it fell flat.
Mississippi is not usually a tourist destination but people will go where ever the beaches remain open and very few are still open. Containment will only work if we have a national plan.

Yeah, I heard it was bad. I went to Jacksonville many years ago for a wedding. It’s a nice area and laid back area from what I remember.Thelma Harper wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:54 pmI'm on the other side of the state, but some of my husbands family lives in PCOLA and they're not happy either. Aahhhh, no one gets my sarcasm. I thought it was obvious but there probably are people heading down to the Gulf beaches right now, especially since Florida is making it tough for New Yorkers to fly to their state.Momto2boys973 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 8:34 pm Such an obvious troll, it’s hardly worth the effort

Quite a few states have already closed schools for the rest of the year. Three months early for some states. That’s a long time in the house with children. Especially teens who think they will die from social isolation.

I never said Mississippi is the exempt from criticizing but expect that same in return when you criticize an entire state without half ass knowing what you’re talking about. This is way more severe than a tourism debate.
TATE REEVES did something stupid, not Mississippi since he is not the only person or politician in the state. This is a big mess because mayors and city officials had stricter ordinances in place but Reeves’s EO supersedes those existing orders.
Long story short.. he is basically doing crazy shit like using coronavirus as an excuse to temporarily ban abortions, yet restricting cities/towns from protecting their own communities.
That is extremely serious IMO and not something to joke about or use it as an opportunity to bash the state because people have a habit of doing so.
