It's azithromycin, or a Z-pack. They will begin trials with it in NY tomorrow. It has had very good results in other countries, so why shouldn't we at least give it a shot?!
A couple in Arizona took this combination after a Trump tweeted about it. One died, one is in critical condition. Other countries have reported poisoning from hydrochlorequine.
Got a link? Or was that just something seen on facebook? It's really kind of hard to OD on hydrocholorquine, especially if it is taken as prescribed.
I don't think it's a question of taking it as prescribed but people panicking and because Trump touted it, they are taking it.

Washington Post. I don’t get news from Facebook. The title is on its front page along with other news on the virus. I suggest you read it all.

We’re heading in that very direction where probability of survival will determine who gets a vent.

Just look at Spain and Italy - major fatalities and the numbers still rising because they did not act soon enough to distance people. We can recover financially. We can loan businesses money or support them with grants. You can't reverse the permanent lung damage some suffer from this virus or bring back lost family members.

I watched the briefing today and they've figured out a way to retrofit the ventilators they use in the OR to be able to work in the regular hospital setting. I thought that was great news. The governors have all been checking the medical facilities to inventory and gather as many respirators as they can.

These are prescription drugs, aren't they? I'd expect the doctor to prescribe it in a nonlethal amount, no?

It is a Rx med, not an OTC med. You can't just walk into a walmart and pick some up!

edit: the couple in AZ took some pool chemicals aquarium cleaner??? I can't even with that.... I'm sorry....
the cnn article didn't say much more about the hydroxychloroquine poisoning than that it was reported 3 people had it. Hmmm. Makes me wonder if it is an OTC drug there and the people are self-medicating.

The couple in AZ used it in the form of a(n) pool chemical aquarium cleaner!! No prescription, no doc, just their own smarts.

Random posts from who knows where as opposed to established newspapers who have been around for decades with stellar reputations. Yes, they are different.

They said that all kinds of doctors and dentists are prescribing it with no real knowledge of how it might work.

Even worse that people are reading and thinking they can take some other form of the drug and be safe.

If a med is recommended in a pandemic, people are going to purchase any way they can. When people are afraid of a disease and are given an even out there possible cure, they are going to go for it. How many people bought colloidal silver when this outbreak first occurred? I would be willing to bet that there are even more occurrences of stuff like this happening in countries like ours that don't have free health care. We have conditioned ourselves to self medicate and self treat in order to avoid doctor/hospital fees.
