"The United States found five units of Israel’s security forces responsible for gross violations of human rights, the first time Washington has reached such a conclusion about Israeli forces, the State Department said on Monday, though it has not barred any of the units from receiving US military assistance.
The incidents in question took place outside of Gaza before conflict broke out between Israel and Hamas in October."

Okay, I have a crazy theory (fantasy) that the Biden administration and State Department has a plan, has been negotiating with all the players to make that plan come into fruition, and that plan will be a 2-state solution. In order for the plan to be realized, US HAS to protect Israel from ICC, UN, HRW, etc. Things are snowballing not only within the international community as a whole, but internally within Israel so time is getting short and the plan has to occur before November's election.
It's the only logical reason I can see for the US to be breaking International and US law as well as seeing to throw away the presidential election.
I know it sounds nuts and I hesitated to even post but on the very off chance I'm even partially right, wanted to get it down, lol.
I think the plan will look very much like the plan Friedman wrote about last year.

Did you see protestors in Tel Aviv? I think Netanyahu’s days are numbered. He can’t keep appealing to his far right ministers. If he’s ousted, “we” may see progress.

As I said, a long shot but The Biden Doctrine has been fomenting now for awhile. Will Netanyahu accept it? No way. But a more liberal PM might? I just think it's telling that Qatar is now saying that Israel is holding up the hostage talks (and of course a bit by Hamas). Blinken is saying that Hamas should take the current deal but Netanyahu is indicated deal or no deal, Israel is going to invade Rafah. Also, report today on Israel "normalizing" relationship with Saudi Arabia. I just think there is a whole lot at play right now and I don't think Netanyahu has the ability to call all the shots. He really has to go and I imagine that he may in the next month of so. Again, just my armchair prediction but with multiple EU states set to recognize Palestine next month, I think things are going to change rapidly.

After reading, I wondered about the Biden Doctrine. It seems to be a plan, but I don't know if it's feasible. But I do agree there's a lot at play.

Oh, I'm not a fan of Friedman and he always seems to be binary in his thinking and his books and his ego is, well, something. However, while kinda hated by liberals, especially within Dept. of State, he does have his ear to the ground and the respect of moderates, both Republican and Democrats. Ultimately, whatever happens, either will have Biden's buy-in or it won't and if it doesn't, Israel will have to go it alone which it can't do. If Biden is successful in negotiating "The Biden Plan", it will be transformative. Of course he will have the blood of 35,000+ Palestinians on his hands but I think he's betting on the end goal being deemed "worth it" for most in US and the region. If he is not successful, US's entire involvement in the Gaza conflict becomes one of complicity in what is seen internationally as a genocide. I "think" Biden is betting on the former instead of the latter but who knows what will end up happening. As I mentioned, this is armchair thinking and I could be totally wrong. Regardless, I believe that the election will depend on what happens in the next few months and "stuff" is going to happen, for the better or worse.Della wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 8:03 pmThank you for the readingWellPreserved wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 6:49 pmhttps://www.haaretz.com/us-news/2024-04 ... fe7850bf55WellPreserved wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:56 pm
