A stretch of lackluster polling for President Trump has some Republican operatives nervous about the president’s reelection prospects in November – with some even floating the possibility for the first time that Trump could drop out if his poll numbers don’t rebound.

“It’s too early, but if the polls continue to worsen, you can see a scenario where he drops out,” one GOP operative who asked to remain anonymous told Fox News.

He is such a narcissist that I don't believe that he will drop out. At the same time, the Supreme Court decision regarding his tax returns should be decided today or tomorrow. If that decision goes against Trump, he may decide to drop out.

If he drops out, do you think Pence would have a chance? What about a Pence/Haley ticket?

Wouldn't THAT be the answer to the left's prayers! They're probably all lighting novena candles as we speak. LOL

I don't think you all will get that lucky though. I can't see his ego allowing such a thing to happen.

Oh god, I didn’t even think about that. Pence is worse than Trump IMO but I can see him having a better chance of getting elected.

I wish he would drop out, but... he is way too full of himself to do so. I can't even fathom who would take his place at this late juncture though. At this point, I'd write in the squirrels in my backyard that are trying valiantly to get above the baffle to the bird feeder as they are a lot smarter than Trump on his best day.

I don’t see him dropping either.

Has that ever happened before? Where the current president doesn’t run for a second term?

With that sick ego of his? No way. He’ll refuse to even contemplate the possibility of losing until it hits him in the face. And even then, he’ll refuse to accept these results, he’ll probably start babbling about electoral fraud and demand recounts all over the place.

It’s gonna be a cluster if he loses.

Yes. Polk, Buchanan and Coolidge come to mind. I don’t know if there have been others, though.
