The New York Post reports the “Amy Cooper” bill, first introduced in 2018 and carried by Assemblyman Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn), is expected to pass this week. The proposed law would make it a hate crime when 911 callers make a false accusation based on race, gender or religion.

Wow! Great! It's just a shame that they're giving that asswipe any notariety. I'm glad that's getting done.

Isn't it already a crime to call 911 for a false accusation? Isn't already a crime to even MAKE a false accusation?

Why must we make everything that is already a crime a bigger crime by attaching the "hate" to it? The crime already involves hate in some way.

Cuomo said widespread protests against police brutality after the death of George Floyd helped push lawmakers to take action.

“I would say look from the protesters point of view, the community point of view, you achieved a significant accomplishment in a very short period of time. This is real reform. It changes fundamental policies about how we police,” Cuomo said.

Oh yea, the protesters and rioters accomplished a lot in a short time......

292 police officers injured

Highlighting the potential for violence, the NYPD tweeted a video of a brutal assault on one of their police officers, who was on anti-looting patrol in Brooklyn Wednesday. "This was not a chance encounter -- it was a planned assassination attempt on an NYPD police officer. It's only by sheer luck that this didn't have a drastically different outcome," the department said in a tweet.

Tens of millions of dollars in damage and looting.

Most small businesses won't be able to reopen since they all had lost God only knows how much money being shut down for nearly three months.

Even for those who had insurance, a lot of insurance policies will not cover rioting.

Typical Dem movement. Just like trying to grab our guns. Trying to pass new laws for ones that already exist, instead of enforcing the existing ones.
