"Speaker Pelosi and her allies demanded the CARES Act include $25 million for the Kennedy Center, yet just hours after President Trump signed the legislation, the Kennedy Center’s leadership shamefully stopped paying their National Symphony Orchestra musicians," Scalise said.
Speaking separately to Fox News' Sean Hannity, Scalise took a shot at Pelosi's suggestion that Trump was idling while people were dying: “Nancy Pelosi literally held the [CARES Act] up for days to get her pet projects, including the money for the Kennedy Center. Interesting she’d use the choice of words ‘fiddlers,’ because it was the fiddlers, the violin players, all the musicians at the Kennedy Center, that got laid off right as the bill got signed."

Good. That was a disgusting thing the Kennedy Center did. They are trying to rationalize it of course.

Republicans have time for this nickel and dime shit? $25 million is a drop in the 2 trillion dollar plus bucket.
The Kennedy center claimed they have the money budgeted for $3 million deep cleaning from the virus and the rest for employee benefits, artists contracts, fees, etc. Let them send in an accounting to verify that it was legitimate.
There will be plenty of real fraud in the upcoming months for everyone. This is stupid. Let the musicians union fight it out for them and help them like the millions of other Americans layed off.
We need to worry more about the shady banking and finance industries. There the ones who will outright steal.
We already

Interesting that you would dismiss any money that could go towards helping to get through this.Lemons wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 9:55 pm Republicans have time for this nickel and dime shit? $25 million is a drop in the 2 trillion dollar plus bucket.

Kennedy Center has said that 22m out of the 25m would be to support their employees while the other 3m would be spent on cleaning and refurbishment of the center (which obviously would also hire workers to do). I'm okay with that. The money should be tracked and spending monitored. But if it is spent as has been told it will be, why wouldn't people be okay?

Maybe Fox didn't hear Trump say that he thought it was a great idea that the Kennedy Center get that money. Maybe they forgot (or didn't know) Melania Trump is on the board of trustees.

As long as they're using it to keep staff afloat, that's the intention. Cleaning is reasonable given the situation.
I read about that also, literally the next day they told musicians they weren't paying them.
A poster mentioned $25M being a "drop in the bucket" or something and why chase them over that. Not exactly. If they're abusing it and not paying staff, that money can be put toward small businesses to keep them afloat. That's 2,500 more $10K grants that can be issued and keep those businesses from going under.

It plays into it because Trump thinks that them getting the money is a great idea. I thought I said that quite plainly.Valentina327 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 10:57 pmHow does that play into anything?AllofFive19 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 12:21 am Maybe Fox didn't hear Trump say that he thought it was a great idea that the Kennedy Center get that money.
