That is good. The more ORs a hospital has, the more vents available to retrofit. However, these anesthesia machines , at least a few , must remain available for urgent and emergent surgeries.

Bottom line is that there is a significant shortage of ventilators and PPEs.

Some hospitals ate already running out and some ate going to run out by April. And some ate looking into reusing PPEs.

That the fed govt will not help to mitigate pricing and stock is shameful.

We’re heading in that very direction where probability of survival will determine who gets a vent.

Just look at Spain and Italy - major fatalities and the numbers still rising because they did not act soon enough to distance people. We can recover financially. We can loan businesses money or support them with grants. You can't reverse the permanent lung damage some suffer from this virus or bring back lost family members.

I watched the briefing today and they've figured out a way to retrofit the ventilators they use in the OR to be able to work in the regular hospital setting. I thought that was great news. The governors have all been checking the medical facilities to inventory and gather as many respirators as they can.

That sounds like it has come from someone who never underwent cancer treatment.

I don't think it's a question of taking it as prescribed but people panicking and because Trump touted it, they are taking it.

It is a Rx med, not an OTC med. You can't just walk into a walmart and pick some up!

edit: the couple in AZ took some pool chemicals aquarium cleaner??? I can't even with that.... I'm sorry....
the cnn article didn't say much more about the hydroxychloroquine poisoning than that it was reported 3 people had it. Hmmm. Makes me wonder if it is an OTC drug there and the people are self-medicating.
They said that all kinds of doctors and dentists are prescribing it with no real knowledge of how it might work.

Even worse that people are reading and thinking they can take some other form of the drug and be safe.
That just infuriated me! If it’s proven to work, then great. Let’s up the manufacturing of the drug. But for now, people like me who actually need this drug to live and function can’t get meds. I have lupus and mixed connective tissue disease. This is a life drug for us. Not to mention, this drug is already very expensive. I really hope that big pharma doesn’t decide to skyrocket the cost even higher. Scary times.

It's azithromycin, or a Z-pack. They will begin trials with it in NY tomorrow. It has had very good results in other countries, so why shouldn't we at least give it a shot?!
A couple in Arizona took this combination after a Trump tweeted about it. One died, one is in critical condition. Other countries have reported poisoning from hydrochlorequine.
Got a link? Or was that just something seen on facebook? It's really kind of hard to OD on hydrocholorquine, especially if it is taken as prescribed.
They took fish tank cleaner. She didn't want to share that part.

Yeah, I've seen that more than a couple journalists were so anxious to blame this on Trump that they conveniently left that little fact out.

People who are willing to ingest a substance in a bottle that clearly says "Not For Human Consumption" are beyond belief.

As it is, some are believing there’s already s cure due to his hydrochlorequine and erythromycin tweet.

Quick question here - you said they took this combination. So, how did they get the Zpack? You think they might have just had one laying around the house, or what? Otherwise, they did NOT take the combination of PRESCRIPTION DRUGS that POTUS tweeted about.

I don’t know, the paper didn’t report it. The point is that people hear this is a cure and they will try it out with whatever they have. They figure if that works, why not this or that plus an antibiotic?

Trump needs to be more responsible. Now he’s talking about some miracle happening on Easter even though cases are still doubling every three days. He’s playing to his base.

If he “re-opens” some of the country, you can bet New Yorkers, Californians, and others from states with growing cases will be invading the open states.

No, this is NOT on Trump. They chose to self-medicate with a substance that they "thought" was the same. They did NO research. This is all on them, well, the wife now. And you still need a script for the anti-biotics! Last I knew there was no fish anti-biotic equivalent to a Z-pack..... I'm sorry to have to say this, but people who self-medicate with things they know nothing about really can't complain when things don't go the way they thought they would.

We ALL would love for things to be open by Easter. The phrase "would love to" is not quite the same as "will be". It is not definite. It is not a deadline. It is not an order.
