The thing that always bothers me the most about these stories is how many of the guys they get that work with kids. Teachers, coaches, etc... it makes me feel so paranoid. There is a basketball camp that my 11 y/o goes to every fall, run by the coach of the local high school girls’ team. He is super nice to my DD and gives her just a smigde extra attention/encouragement, and he always goes out of his way to make sure I have the information for any other off-season basketball stuff that is going on throughout the year. I know it’s probably because she is really dedicated/talented and he wants her to join his team when she gets to high school in a couple years but I am hyper vigilant about it anyway. I hate having to harbor this mild suspicion toward what is most likely a perfectly nice man and a great coach, but I just don’t feel like I have the option to let my guard down.

Its so sickening to think about. What I dont understand are the dumbasses out there defending them. Anytime these stories come up, you will see comments about entrapment and how its unconstitutional. Im sorry but I dont give a shit as long as it gets these sick bastards off the streets. Why would anyone defend these assholes?

After we moved from where we use to live, where my husband was in law enforcement and knew all the dispatchers, town cops and sheriff deputies, we heard about a deputy everyone was close friends with was being charged for having S*x with a minor. The girl was 17 at the time. After that blew up it came out that he was also with a 14 year old. He has a beautiful wife and family and he ruined all their lives. The victims, his family are all having to rebuild their lives now that it’s all out in the open. We were shocked and disgusted. Makes you think twice. You think you know someone!

In this day and age you need to be vigilant. There isn't such a thing as being too careful when it comes to your kids because you just don't know. People you're supposed to trust - scout leaders, teachers, clergy, cops.... There are bad people everywhere.
