Often thought as America's first serial killer, Holmes's body count is at least 27 but many feel it is closer to 200.
How is such a thing possible?
Holmes built a hotel in a bustling part of Chicago in the 1890s. When built he designed it to be a perfect killing floor for his sick desires. He built it to have windowless rooms and some doors only opened from the outside.
Because he built in sections and fired and hired new builders constantly; he was the only person who knew the way around the maze of rooms.

Hmm. If he built the hotel starting around 1890 and Jack the Ripper stopping killing people around 1888, i wonder if they're the same person.

I read somewhere that the AHS Hotel season was based loosely around this.
