Yes it can. My mom hating when I was prescribed steroids for my asthma because of the mood swings amplified bad mood. I refuse to take the pills now, anything more than what is already in my advair and it messes me up.

Yeah, it can 100%. I was on them a few yrs back for an illness and I became a bitchy eating machine. I ended up having to take several days off of work because I couldn't be trusted to not get snippy and rude with callers.

I've taken steroids or had steroid injections and while it does make me very hungry and I do have trouble sleeping initially (, I don't think it affects my general mood. Sounds like the results vary tremendously and you are affected more seriously. You have to do what is best for you.

Cortisol has a wide variety of effects on our body, including immunity, appetite/glucose metabolism, mood regulation, etc. it also has synergistic effects with other hormones like epinpherine & norepinephrine, involved out our body’s stress response.

Therefore synthetic forms of cortisol, such as oral prednisone, can have adverse effects on our mood and emotional state. There are numerous documented case reports about prednisone inducing mania in patients with known bipolar depression, and many more citing rage & irritability.
