I don't know. It just was. Probably stems from when there wasn't millions of people around. You had to keep the population going somehow so it just became OK. It wasn't seen as wrong for a long time because of that.

I’ve never been fond of Elvis. When I was in high school, I was bored one day and read Priscilla’s book. From her accounts, they didn’t marry until she was 18 and they didn’t engage in S*x until after they married. Whether that’s true or not, she’s the only one alive that can say. Now Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 yr old cousin and his career was very negatively effected by it.

He met her when she was 14. But they went their separate ways until she was about 17. And then her parents kind of pushed for a relationship. Supposedly always with a chaperone, but ultimately her dad was the one who pushed for marriage. He even threatened Elvis with accusing him of taking a minor across state borders when he himself gave her his permission.
