That is just what he gets. Our state has the cap at like $230. I'm not going to open that random link sorry.
Uh, sure thing. Mississippi is the lowest at $235 a week. A low COL state.

We are in Arizona. Our area is not low cost of living. The mortgage is $2500 a month and that doesn't include insurance or HOA fees.

Illinois benefit is only $198 a week under the pandemic unemployment insurance, which is the one that covers subcontractors/self employed. Normally those categories can't collect unemployment. Depending on what he had to file under, that very well may be the case that he's only bringing in the $200 a week.

The amount of time spent in each parent's household may influence how much child support is awarded by the court, but 50/50 does not negate child support.

It should. One parent shouldn't have to support their kids more than half the time while the other parent doesn't even have to equally support them.

Laws vary by state for child support, but custody is not awarded based on income. Children are presumed to need and have a right to time spent with both parents. And also presumed to have the same physical needs for food, shelter, clothing and medical care in either home.

Sorry but divorce changes things financially for all involved. Why should one parent who shares 50/50 be responsible to pay more than the other parent. Perhaps if one of the parents cannot provide the basics on their own the other parent should have the majority time. There should be no child support in a 50/50 situation. Each parent needs to be responsible for their quality of life. If a child has it slightly better at one house it won’t scar the child.
