I know it was directed at me mostly because I called the family last night. My patient fell in the shower and broke her arm. She was sent to the hospital. I called to inform them of the situation.

I hate families like this one.

I laughed out loud at that! I would have called them too if that happened. You were being kind and consciousness. How terrible of you! LOL

If they are the emergency contact for that patient, then your boss should have told them no...they will be called in emergencies. Period.
Don't text while driving. Don''t text while stopped at stop signs and traffic lights. You're not a four year old...exercise some self-control.

Wouldn’t know what to think about that. I thought it was standard protocol to call families when things happen.

Who’s the emergency contact?
Calling for a broken bone seems appropriate.

Did your supervisor or head nurse talk to you about the situation or do they just leave notes?
