For the past few months I been feeling a pinch on one side of my spine in the upper thoracic area. I I tried stretching, changing my pillow etc etc, but told myself to push through it.
Sunday night I almost blacked out when I picked my upset seven year old up. It hurt so much. Monday I went to the doctor and could barely climb into my van and couldn't turn my head. I had to turn my whole body to check my blind spots.
After a bunch of x-rays, the doctor thinks I strained a muscle in my neck. He showed me where in one x-ray with my arm lifted, he could see my muscle spasm. (Looked like a cloudy spot on the xray)He said he could feel my muscles spasming when he pressed on my shoulder. If things dont improve in two weeks with meds and rest, I have to see a specialist. Idk how I am suppose to rest (no lifting or reaching for things) with kids.
I can't believe I let it get this bad. I am the first one to preach to others about not over doing it and here I am grimacing while trying to sweep the floor and gather dirty clothes.
Moral of this tale, little aches today, can be big pains tomorrow. Don't over do it. When in doubt, get checked out.

Only assuming you have a SO... So he/she would need to step up more and do what you can't. The 7 year old should be pretty self-sufficient and he able help out some too. Sorry your feeling bad.

I had bad pain in my side until I got a side sleeper pillow. It was right along my bra line and I was beginning to wonder if it was from my big breasts before I found a solution.
I hope you feel better soon!

I carried my kids piggy back well into their teens. They didn't need it; it was just fun. Most parents I know pick up their 7 year old kid from time to time. Swing them around. Whatever.

OPs message is the truth!

I hope you can heal soon.

Go see a chiropractor too. If you're body is out of alignment, muscles freak out and overwork themselves to compensate.

Which reminds me, I'm overdue to go see my chiropractor.

Don't you have older kids in your house? I thought you had teenagers and a significant other. They can step up for the two weeks and sweep the floor, etc.

Go to Amazon and order 2 tubes of Natribio's Arnica Rub tonight, prime. When you get it, slather it where ever your back hurts. Don't forget neck and shoulders and arms. Get your kids to help you. Do it 2-3 times a day. It will help you feel better and put you on the road to recovery. I had a frozen shoulder a couple of years ago. I got it from sleeping on the hard sofa in my brother's hospital room. Nsaids and muscle relaxants helped but never made it better. I started using the Arnica Rub twice a day and in 2 weeks my pain was almost gone. My shoulder pain would wake me up throbbing in the middle of the night. I couldn't bend my arm behind my back or raise my arm above my head. Don't screw around with any other Arnica product. You want NatriBio's The Rub! In fact keep a bottle of this stuff on hand all the time. It's great for bruises as well as muscle soreness.

Anything spine or nerve related, you aren’t always going to feel right away. I hope they gave you some good muscle relaxants, though.

OP - did they prescribe muscle relaxants or steroids?
