Jazz it up with caramelized onions or sauteed shallots that's mixed in with the beans and topped with the fried onions and shredded cheddar cheese
That made me hungry.

We always have the same thing: cheese, nuts and dried fruit plate as an appetizer. Roasted Turkey, Mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, peas, cranberry sauce, rolls, and the pie varies, either pumpkin or pumpkin cheesecake this year. and always have sparkling apple cider and white wine to drink.

The pumpkin cheesecake sounds really good. We usually have pumpkin, blueberry and apple pies. I want to change things up, I may go with a pumpkin cheesecake this year

Firstof all - What kind of a communist doesn't like cornbread! ;)

Second - holy smokes lady! I needed a nap after reading that. It sounds like an amazing feast. I hope you'll have some hands helping with all of that! My hat is off to you. I do about half of that and I'm DONE by the end of the day.
Other than a couple of the desserts, I do it all. But I've done it for so long, i have it down to a science. In fact, I made the jalapeno popper triangles yesterday & put them in the freezer. I'll just have to pull them out & bake them that day. Tonight I'm shelling pecans. I got a 5 gallon bucket of them (unshelled) and I need about 5-6 cups of shelled pecans for everything. I'll knock that out tonight & probably make some spicy roasted pecans for snacks.

We scaled bck a few years ago and only make the thing everyone loves: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a butt load of gravy (my son calls it that), corn, a casserole from one daughter-in-law, corn casserole from the other, cranberry/pumpkin/banana breads, pie.

Turkey
Dressing
Sweet potato casserole
Minted greens
Deviled eggs
Maybe mashed potatoes, there are only 4 of us but I like variety

I haven't decided whether or not we'll do dessert.

The traditional: turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, some sort of veggie, pecan pie, choc pie, nut bread, fruit pudding salad.

The one untraditional thing that I add is shrimp. DS12 hates Thanksgiving because he dislikes pretty much everything I listed above. So I make him his own special plate of shrimp because he loves shrimp. He is happy with his shrimp and the rest of us are happy with everything else.
