I'm nowhere near medicare age yet. But I'm constantly thinking about what it's going to like when the time comes that I may need to rely on it.Like I say, though, I haven't heard much bad said of it.

Yea...Medicare denying treatments, doesnt pay for long term home health care, little to none prescription coverage etc.......
My parents have been on for years. You do need a prescription supplement for sure and you'll be out of pocket for your dental but pretty much everything medical is covered. We even got a wheelchair covered for ma.

You definitely need to pay for a supplement with it though, because inpatient hospital stays and things can get expensive. It's fairly solid in the grand scheme if things.

Old boy got his knee replaced, does his annual stress tests, bloodwork for his nephrologist, and his follow up office visits for all of them. I'm very grateful he has it. 😊

I am with you, I think she was being entitled—basic healthcare, she has, but want to see specialists, work hard, save up, buy insurance, or whatever. I cannot go demand to see a lawyer that I think is the best without paying, but a medical provider, people, for some reason, think should just work for free.
I worked in medical for years and saw many providers who are less interested in saving lives than making tons of money for European vacations, having multiple luxury cars and living in the most expensive homes built. Refusing payment plans, or telling a new patient with a heart condition needing immediate care they are looking at a year's wait for an appointment, and playing Russian roulette with human lives is when I lose all respect for medical providers.
That’s depressing. I’ve also heard that . Plus there is the fact that Doctors prescribe unecessary or harmful medications in order to be rewarded by the pharmaceutical companies

Yes— there is a big wide world out there, ms Snarky.
🙄
But I am curious as to why she mentioned Medicare?
Do they offer Medicare in Australia?
Is it the same as ours?
Then why are you saying it’s different there?
And my point is that Medicare is an authentic entitlement here ...and is it also an entitlement in Australia?
But basically, saying a woman “screamed” is an exaggeration.
Her whole post is an exaggeration and unclear as to their health care.
That's not snark its sarcasm. Sorry if you are so delicate that sarcasm offends you. You were being quite snarky yourself trying to correct her. If you had bothered to read the first few pages you would understand where she was from and that their Medicare is different. How do you know it's an exaggeration. People get frustrated and sometimes act stupid. Have you never seen someone making a scene voicing their displeasure about something? You must live under a orock.
Delicate?

You say I must live under a rock?

Again- would you be this rude and self satisfied if there was no anonymous option?
Is this how you occupy your day?
How special.
🙄
Says the woman who's posted dozens of times in this thread alone. But no I spend maybe a half hour of my day on here. I'm not being rude.. But yes I would have the same opinion without anon. We are all anon its the internet. Your SN means nothing to me. I won't remember it and identify you by it. If you don't like the anon feature there are groups without it. You act like I have been horrible because I said you corrected the OP? You did. I guess you were rude too then

I work in healthcare too, and have NEVER seen one patient that can't walk into an ER and get emergency heart care, just like the OP was stating in her post, go to the ER if you have an urgent issue. AND when you follow the actual scientific evidence or healthcare outcomes, not the jaded opinion of the entitled American public, all those countries that make patients wait a year for cardiac surgery don't have worse health outcomes, in fact, they have better outcomes. I am not going to deny that there are not some shady providers out there in it for the money. Every profession has unethical people. However, the fact is funding, to pay for unlimited evaluations for everything and everyone's desires is not possible, and no one wants to actually talk about that issue. Many people just think if we just keep adding more & more money to the budget, that eventually everything can be paid for , and that simply is not the case. Social justice is not a simple issue at all.

Hey! Thanks for sharing this info, Valentina! I don't obsess about it but I have worried a little about what services will be covered and how much they will cost us when we retire. I'm going to have to just keep stashing my pennies so that I have them available to me when I hop into retirement! :) I worry about whether I'll have my wits about me, too, in order to make the best choice between plans. We'll figure it all out, though, I'm sure.

Thanks again for your input. Always appreciate it.
