Do you believe that for SOME prol-lifers, there's more to it than protecting "babies"?

I was just talking about this on a thread in News and Politics. I volunteer with a pro-choice organization in my area. We serve as clinic escorts, and help arrange transportation for women who can't get to a clinic, among other things. My point is, I have some experience with the protesters and being yelled at by the protesters by now.

I have absolutely no F***ing clue what the hell is in these people's heads. None. I cannot imagine what would possess someone to stand in front of a medical facility and bully patients. I will say one thing, though. For at least 50% of the crowd on any given weekend, their reasoning has little to nothing to do with being pro-life. It is literally, by definition, completely impossible to call yourself pro-life and yell at women that they deserve to die in horrendously graphic and violent ways in the same breath. Like, it's a logical fallacy. Both points of view cannot coexist. One automatically excludes the other.

I don't know what the f**k this is. Is it resentment, is it some displaced feeling of superiority, is it mental illness, whatever the hell, I will never understand. All I know is protecting life or saving babies has virtually nothing to do with it.

There are protesters outside of an abortion clinic here...
I'm asking what you believe their real intent is.

Well, it doesn't work, honestly. I don't think I've ever seen a woman turn back and leave because of the protesters.

You don't think they are just angry because they believe that babies are being painfully killed while in the womb? That they believe that mothers who would kill their own babies are monsters?

I dunno...maybe I'm a monster. I'm pretty sure those are actual babies being killed and I'm pro-choice anyway.

I wouldn't know what these people do. I don't know anyone irl that's against abortion to that degree. I know folks that are pro life. But that's not the same as saying abortion should be illegal. People don't understand you can well hate abortion but feel it should be available to a woman.

Here is a solution to everything. Don't have unprotected S*x and then their won't be a baby to worry about! There I solved everything!

Can you tell me how many people can truthfully say their birth control failed? Truthfully. Most people will say their birth control failed when it reality they missed a pill or making a excuse.

Also there is plan B which can be taken if you are raped or molested.

I did not say that people who think like you are monsters. I understand your point of view and I can respect it even as I personally disagree with it. I didn't even say all pro-life people in general are monsters. I don't think that.

I did say that specifically people who stand in front of abortion clinics and scream obscenities at patients are monsters, and that is a statement I fully stand behind. I don't particularly care about their reasoning. In my opinion, people who behave like that and spout vile shit like that are every inch the monsters they think women who had abortions are.
