Talent show auditions in Elementary school?

What do you think? Should there be exclusive shows like that at those ages?

I never heard of such a thing.
I think it's okay, but only if the kids wants to do it (not forced by parent), and only it's "real" talent. DS went to one in K, I believe, and one of the "Talents" was someone pretending to play the guitar and lipsynch to the song. Dumb.

I think that young everyone should be able to show off thier talents. My dd particpated in once ( at the library not school) when she auditioned she was with her friends and they didnt want her friends to perform with her. They changed thier minds and let her friends perform but seeing thier little faces at first was sad.

My DD had to audition for her school talent show recently. She's in second. I think it was more to be sure they were comfortable and wouldn't get stage fright rather than judging their actual talent. Which I think was smart, so the show went on smoothly.

I have no issues with auditioning for them at any age.
