The GOP must be so happy about this as this seems to be the outcome they want.

I'm not talking about Bragg, obviously.

No one for as long as I can remember has thought it a good idea to release single migrants prior to deportation hearing. No one. But guess what, it takes money to hold single migrants. Lots of money.

GOP has conflated asylum seekers which are generally family units with migrants and blocked increased funding for homeland security to house single migrants. Why?

Most recently, GOP has blocked the bi-partisan border bill which would fully fund AND require holding single migrants prior to deportation. Why?

This has led to an increase in single migrants being released because what you gonna do, shoot them?

GOP knows that holding single migrants prior to deportation is a good idea but let's face it, conservative media LOVES to report on crimes that migrants in deportation hearings are committing (even though they commit less crime than our home grown peeps) so gotta feed the media. They LOVE to show the "invasion" at the border even though many are asylum seeking family groups rather than single economic migrants. They especially LOVE when a migrant commits a crime because in their mind, it just reinforces Trump's "when Mexico sends their people, they're not sending their best" narrative. Our current house doesn't want to pass the border bill because it would make Biden look good. For f**k sake. They LOVE reports like this because it just reinforces their narrative - one that they are creating but "we're" too stupid to see it.

This case is an example of lack of funding for border security from the House, not policy of NYC. Ibarra should have been held when he crossed the border. Again, this is the GOP's wet dream.
